Progress

Do you see that? That’s a big box of our wedding invitations…done and ready to be mailed once they have postage!

I know what you’re thinking. “Kim…your wedding is in July. Why are you finishing your invitations now?” Well, dear reader, I have a couple of answers for that. First and foremost, as you may or may not recall, we completely DIY’ed our wedding invites. Although that saved us a lot of money, it also means that we put a lot of time and effort into making these puppies. We’ve actually been working on them off and on since last February, making our wedding invitations one of the only DIY projects that has truly spanned our entire engagement.

Secondly, as awesome as the progress above is…that’s about 1/3 of the invites that we’re going to be mailing. So there’s still a lot to do, despite how proud I am of what we’ve already accomplished.

Finally, (and maybe most importantly), our 3-month mark until the wedding falls smack dab in the middle of my finals week(s) this semester. I didn’t really want to mail them before finals, because that would cut down on invitation-making time and mean that they would get to our guests a little early. And mailing them later isn’t really an option either, if we want to get any of our RSVP’s in by the requested date. So I’m working my little tail off to get these done now so that I won’t have to worry about it when the semester starts to get really crazy. And I must admit, working on wedding invitations can be a nice escape from homework sometimes!

I really can’t wait to show you all the hard work that went into making these because I absolutely love them…but that will have to wait until they’re mailed out in May. Have you ever worked on a DIY project that took months…or even more than a year?
